Kokudo seems to rely on a grinding style with a good compliment of defensive defenders and bottom 6 grinders to compensate for a lack of high-end scoring talent. I don’t think this strategy will be enough to upset Florida due to disadvantage in top 6 forwards. Tanti is an AAA level player with no top 10 finishes. Corey Perry is not a top 6 forward with his highest scoring finish being 20th (second highest 36th). Looking at NHL numbers, Kokudo has three top 10 scoring finishes, Florida has 6 (two on the third line). The key is Florida's has only two NHL players in their top 6 compared to four in Kokudo. The 4 finishes in the top 6 are split evenly between Janney and Haynes. Looking at the non-NHL players. Cloutier and Ftorek were very good WHA players, but not quite as good as Tardiff. Additionally, Swift and McDougall were two of the best goal scorers of the 1890s. Florida has a deeper offense with higher end talent. Ridpath isn't a great 2nd liner, but he was more meaningful offensively in his era than Perry was. As mentioned before, Florida has more offensive depth in the bottom 6 than Kokudo as well.

Kokudo’s checking line isn’t better than Florida’s, so it will not negate the differences in top six calibre. Florida’s defence is a better offensive unit than Kokudo’s, should perform relatively similar defensively. I also don’t think Myshkin will outplay Ranford by a large enough margin to steal the series.

Just taking a quick glance at Kokudo's roster, the main difference between the teams seems to be in the second lines. Tanti probably isn't even a MLD calibre guy (being one of the better Canucks' of all-time unfortunately means very little), while Perry is probably better suited to being on the 4th line/extra forward. Mike Richards is probably an idealistic 3rd line center in this thing, but I'm not sure that he has the ability to shutdown Florida's superior offense.

Anyways, best of luck to the Bunnies, I'm not sure that you guys should've been an 8th place team, and here's to a good series.
