Lol.

Kasperi Kapenen has similar point totals, with much lesser ice time, and is only 24. Kapenen will be a part of the Pittsburgh organization for many years to come. Staal is a 36 year old rental. It's a case of one player on the way up and another on the way down.

It's not all that difficult to imagine a top 6 center rental making $3.25 million garnering a 1st in the 20's, no matter the age.

Definitely is a very strong word. Staal had a strong playoffs, but that was after 3 awful playoffs. His numbers also seem to be falling. If he comes in at less than 50 points, I can't see anyone giving a 1st for him. Definitely no one is giving you a first for Staal now. Maybe at the deadline, you could get a late first, but even then I think that's unlikely. Teams especially seem to hang onto their firsts during situations where they are cap strapped.

Boston offered a 1st so you are wrong

He will have to be playing well at the deadline first. No one is going to pay that now.
