"One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" is one of my favourite films. He did an amazing job directing that.

One of the few top notch directors who made the transition from Europe to Hollywood without skipping a beat. He won two Academy Awards for best director (One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus). His two best Czech films, Loves of a Blonde and The Firemen's Ball, were also nominated for Oscars in the "Foreign Language" category. His films are known for their technical virtuosity, wit and intelligence.

Never really "lost it" either, so to speak. His later movies -- People vs Larry Flynt and Man on the Moon are great as well.

RIP, didn't realize he was that old. Big fan of several of his films, he had a penchant for crafting really entertaining stories while adding a bit of craftsmanship for good measure.

Took a mediocre book and made a great movie out of it with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Kudos.
