If he does become a FA what would other flyers fans think of picking him up. I know we would have to unload MacD and Grossmann.. I have always like the guy. Watched him play a lot when I lived near Hershey for the bears. He was my fav. player.

Any interest in making cap room for him if he would sign for 5.5 mil - 6 mil? "fantasy world"

He won't sign for that. We can't afford him. But in the fantasy world where we are rid of AMac and he signed for that cheap then yes I'd take Green.

UFA dmen are always overpaid and too much term. Look how we feel already about MacD. Or Tampa about Carle. etc...

I am of the opinion that we we need our core to come from the draft or thru shrewd trades. Use UFA'a to fill a 1-2 year need or take a chance on a low risk...higher upside guy...like we did with MDZ.

In 2 years, we would trying to get rid of him.

yeah i guess your right. I just always wanted to see him in orange and black. he would most likely ask for a long term contact as well.

Morin would replace Schenn, Hägg would replace
Schultz, Sanheim would replace Streit. In 2 Years..

In order to get him in the first place, Lecavalier, Macdonald and Grossmann must all be traded first.
Even after that Green will be looking for lots of $. Not sure if this team is willing to make that mistake again. Could look good though...

Green's biggest contribution would be on the powerplay, which frankly is the last area the Flyers should be looking to address in the offseason. Pass for me.

Pass. Not what the Flyers need, and frankly, there's not much separating Green from MacDonald these days. He's no longer the offensive dynamo that he once was, and his play in his own zone has only gotten marginally better. He's also an injury risk.

I'd be in on Green if there was cap room and roster space, but right now that isn't the case. Trade AMac, Schenn, and Grossmann and we can talk. Otherwise it really is not an option.

That would be an extremely risky defensive pairing to be rolling out there. Two guys who are extremely eager to join the rush and are noted for their offensive skills more-so than their talent on the back end.

With the prospects coming in and a potential zaitsev signing I would doubt there would be room for him. Also I would not like to sign him with certain players coming to the end of their contracts.

Easy pass. He's all about "Green Life" so I doubt he'll settle for anything less 6.5.

Exactly. In the UFA market, demand is always greater than supply, so the prices always are high. Look at almost every long term UFA signing the Flyers have made in the past 10 years. We are always moaning about it after the 2nd or 3rd year and trying to figure out how to unload the guy. This is the same in many other franchises as well. In 2 years the Caps are going to be complaining about the Niskanen and Orpik contracts. I say let all the other franchises live in Cap Hell. We still have several years left trying to unload the cap-unfriendly guys we have.

Can't afford an overpaid PP specialist who is pretty much 3rd pairing material on a good team. Not in the cap world.

With Streit around for two more years, MDZ about to be reupped, Gostisbehere within a year of FT duty and other potential EuroUFA signings, there is no room or need for a 3rd pairing PP specialist like Green.
