Expect Team Canada to name its World Cup coaching staff on Thurs in Toronto. Babcock head coach. Quenneville and Julien among assistants.

Never really lost the job.

Back-to-Back Gold Medals, would have been a travesty if he wasn't the HC.

Wasn't sure if they were going to go with Quennville as the HC (there was talk of it) but with Babcock bringing home 2 gold medals. How do you not go with him? Glad they made the right choice.

I thought for sure Babcock would decline and I thought Quenneville would take over.

Best coach in the NHL, well deserved. Happy as a Team Canada fan. Probably going to help keep his sanity after this season

Babcock is the best coach in the NHL. Deserves to be coach again.

People say anyone could have won with Team Canada and that Coach Q should be the one. Well, anyone could have won with the Chicago lineup.

This is good on a few different levels. 1 obviously being Babcock. Most importantly 2, players will play harder against the Leafs trying to prove to Babcock that they should be on the team. Helps with the tank!

He can have the World Championship job every year for the next 5 years as well given it's timing, I bet that's why he took the Leafs job :sarcasm:

That's going to be quite a shock to the system for Mr Babcock.

Going from coaching the Leafs to coaching team Canada?

My god! That's like going from driving a bike with no chain to a fighter jet! lol.

Since the world cup is a glorified all star game they might as well make it interesting.

1) Ontario
2) Quebec
3) Western Canada (incl. Newfoundland, PEI....)
4) Western USA
5) Eastern USA
6) Russia
7) Sweden
8) Finland
9) Czech Republic
10) Euro

The Canadian team battles would be epic especially Ontario vs Quebec.

This very well could be the first time we see Babcock coaching Stamkos after Stamkos becomes a Leaf.

:) Happy Thoughts.

Why hire this guy? Have they seen his team's record this season? He is a terrible coach.

Should have been Carlyle, he guided this team to the playoffs

this tournament looks gimmicky, a team North America and a Team Europe? WTF:help:

edit: **** this, this has got to be one of the worst ideas the NHL has come up with.
