Miikko Lehtonen

I just picked this guy in the 9 round mock draft. He seems to be a sleeper/wild card type pick. I like his size and the fact that he plays with Lauri Tukonen is nice. For those of you who have seen him play could you describe his game. Could you describe his strengths and weeknesses?

Very big...a little awkward on the ice but is a fast skater with great speed, kind of lanky, has a cannon of a shot and loves to shoot the puck, has good stickhandling skills and is creative as well, soft hands around the goal.

i recognized the name because he was a ninth round pick of the Preds in 2001, an overager, but I'd say his chances of ever playing in NA are virtually nil.

If you look in that link you provided, it has their stats this year kind of mixed. Thats why it shows 2004/2005 1 game for Blues, as thats the draft eligible guy.

Currently 194cm 94kg, showed some great moves in top junior league in Finland. Has skills but also doesn't mind physical play. Seemed pretty creative guy with plenty of moves. Numbers are nothing special but was very good in play-offs.

My wildcard pick for the next draft.

When you compare his junior numbers (37GP-6G-9A-15P-38PIM) to the scouting reports it seems that Lehtonen is very much a project who hasn't approached his potential yet.
