Michael Raffl Appreciation Thread

Yeah...it is weird making one of these for a 4th liner...but the guy spent 8 seasons here and played over 500 games for the Flyers. Not bad at all for an undrafted player.

He is a great guy and was a good player for the team. Unfortunately, he played here during one of the most frustrating eras in team history.

Raffl was a good depth player for a long time here. I wish him well in DC.

Raffl has always earned every penny of his contract, a great team player and solid bottom 6 player, he'll win a cup somewhere else, I'm sure. I bet he'll be the guy to chip in a big-time goal that leads to it too, he's that kind of a character guy.

Gags was one of my all-time favorite Flyers so when they gave his number to someone else so soon, I was disappointed. But like I said in the other thread, Rafll did that number proud and he’ll always be one of my favorites as well. All the best to him.

Raffl always played a good game no matter what line he was on. Players like that on good contracts is a must to have on any team. Hopefully he will get the Cup on the Caps this season.

Loved Raffl. The perfect depth dude. Was disappointed to see him benched for weeks then dealt off for a 5th like an afterthought. He was a great Flyer and I miss him already.

Hard to find many better bottom sixers in terms of quality+longevity.

He scored goals/60 over his Flyers career at the same rate guys like Kopitar, Hall, Schenn, Backstrom and Turris have over their careers.

always said he was the swiss (austrian) army knife for us, just super versatile up and down the roster. looking back on his career, it's kind of funny he rode shotgun for giroux the one year and popped 21 goals. liked that he was always good for a couple just monster power forward moves a year--dip that shoulder and cut right through the crease to score.

definitely a well chosen euro free agent. best of luck.
