I didn’t realize he was so small. DU website has him at 5’9 and 178. We already have a munchkin on the team - Lomberdeau.

He reached the mountain top.
Will he want to try that again next year with a lesser team? Only he can answer that.
boy did he ever.

ended up getting tickets a few hours before the game and was glad i did. great experience and my son adopted the pioneers, which made the 3rd period a kind of party for him - he was up often in the 3rd dancing to the goal song.

thought benning was going to be the goat there for a while. although i question the tripping call based on the arena replays, it was still a difficult position to the ref in.

MSU was fast and so stingy. i think denver had 3 shots in the first period. maybe they had 7 or 8 in the 2nd period. really thought they might be able to lock down at 1-0. i caught them in a 3-2 passive neutral zone forecheck - like 3 forwards abreast. never seen that before.

denver started to get their legs going in the 2nd though and had a few decent chances and slowly built on them until they got that first one. seemed to have burst MSU's balloon as they got slower as denver got faster. the script flipped really quickly.

great game for benning obviously. didn't see him as much as i thought. he appears to be PP1 QB but i don't think he was getting top-pairing minutes otherwise. really good skater and didn't look out of place against a big, fast opponent. will be interesting to see how he develops.

I heard the coach gave a pretty rousing speech in the second intermission. Doubt we ever hear what was said though. Awesome you could go!

Benning played mostly on the second pair this year, sometimes the third pair. He's basically like a power play specialist. I wonder if the team wants to see how he handles big minutes on a weaker team.

His development will be very interesting.

i didn't realize that. yeah, guess we'll see where slots in next year, though clearly he's shown he deserves the PP1 spot.

so i was today years old when i found out that his dad is brian benning and uncle is jim benning.

Yeah he definitely has NHL bloodlines in his favour.

Will he joind Checkers to the end of the Season and their PO Games as depth Player.
No matter that this Team look strong on the Blueline also in points.
For a D his stats listen small and light. 5"9 is nothing impressive or is he more a Mobile Defensman, Matheson 2.0 Campbell 3.0?

He is very mobile, and Denver's offense seem to go through him, especially on the power play. Uses his stick quite well defensively, just not very physical. Not a big part of his game.

I've been thinking, and the former Panther defenseman I think he would compare to the most is KY. Probably more so back in his Arizona days, just maybe not as physical

So another Campbell and another Matheson, with both we have special Memories.
Might not been that great with Matheson, so the Puckcarrying Defensman is here in Florida a Theme you wont open or watch fail the third Time.

Our history is not so shiny with the Type of Player. Special while the Opposite side, the Forwards getting bigger or small and Speedy. But you get outworked most of the Time. Even Matheson who was 6"2 had heavy non contact im Mobile problems.

Sorry maybe im a bit to old fashion, but one thing you dont wanna see. Is out played or outworked in your own end. About Size and Weight Problem.

Florida born Quinn Hughes is 5'10 and 180 lbs. He's doing well in the NHL. I think that Zito wants someone who can bring the puck up and give good passes. Something that is missing after Weegar got traded.
