Prust gets hurt a lot and MM likely won't dress every game, add in Bourque likely being useless in the regular season and getting scratched a lot plus injuries and it won't be a problem getting Bournival into the lineup.

The problem with Bournival was he had a great start but then came back to earth, and instead of sending him back to the AHL we just let him ride out a season where he was unprepared to play in the NHL.

He just turned 22 this past may. He's still very younger. Has two pro seasons under his belt, one in the ahl and one in the nhl. I would venture to say that 80% of the people are surprised he cracked the nhl this early in his career. There is still room to grow.

Thing is, Bournival may yet have some untapped potential. I think he can find some kind of offensive upside and ensure himself a safe spot on the third line. At worst he can become a very useful not-so-gritty but smart defense minded fourth liner\PK specialist

I think Bournival-Plekanec-Sekac could be a great line. All very strong causing turnovers.

But then that doesn't leave much space for Bourque, Eller, Gallys, Prust, MM, Weise (and Moen)

As much as I liked what Bournival was bringing early in the season, I might like him more in the AHL this season while playing top6 minutes. Let's just offer Bowman a 1 year contract as a bridge deal to let our younger players grow in the AHL (as long as Lefebvre doesn't mess it up)

Max Talbot can take a seat.

With Therrien running with Prust-MM-Weise as his 4th line so far, do you think Bournival spot is in danger?

At this point I see him as 13th forward, but they may want to start him in the AHL to get some confidence offensively. If you want the Eller line to produce offensively, than you need a better winger than MB with him and Bourque. Maybe they'll sign Bowman and trade Moen, send Bournival to AHL.

He's not an offensive blackhole... he gets into scoring chances he just has Gionta-itis.

Gionta didn't score 249 career goals by having the stiff hands of Bournival. I'm hoping his offense comes around because for most of last year he looked like Parros in front of the net.

He's never going to be a goal scorer.
I love my Bourni... He reminds me of Reggie all those years back when the Habs were so good.
He became sort of a mascot on those powerhouses and I though every winning team needed one.
Reggie was one of the only guys I ever saw NHL level miss the entire rink on a break-away.
He got a ton of them.

Pure energy guy can plug in anywhere short term ...
Perfect.:handclap:

Bring in the youngblood! if the vets don't bring it, got a lot that can step in,no need to be so slow and patient.

Unless a big improvement in his offense game, Bournival is a trade deadline asset with a 2nd round pick to get a top 6 forward goal scorer.

Bournival likely is our 8th best forward, so yes, of course, he will be dressing every night and no his spot isn't in danger.

Watch the damn games.

1 Pacioretty
2 Plekanec
3 Galchenyuk
4 Parenteau
5 Desharnais
6 Gallagher
7 Eller
8 Bournival
9 Weise
10 Bourque
11 Malhotra
12 Prust
13 Sekac
14 Moen

Bournival did a lot of good things last year and he just turned 22. He's got speed and is a hard worker,he will become a good third line player.

A plug and a useless plug are two different things :)
Bournival is a plug.

I hope he worked on his shooting. It was like he aimed for the center of the goalie's chest every single time. He doesn't have a bad shot per se, but he needs to aim better.

His shot was pathetic in many instances.
I honestly think he surprised himself on more than one occasion by how open he was/became.
If he can learn to bear down and execute better in those situations he will become a universal favorite.

Bournival is criminally underrated.

He's better than Weise at least.

I would easily take Bournival in the top 9 over Weise (or Prust and probably Bourque).

Not that good in the offensive zone in terms of flashy play? outchancing his shots? not really sure how to word it.. but he's good at ending up there alot/tilting the ice in the right direction. Players like that tend to get underrated. They can be good linemates for more creative players.
