I was clamouring, for years, that the Panthers follow the blueprint that has been laid out by the Heat. The Heat culture was the perfect blueprint for the team to follow, especially for an area where you are fighting for every dollar from the South Floridians.

The Heat are one of the best run teams in sports. They have:

-Great ownership
-Great management
-One of the best coaches in the game
-One of the hardest working teams in the league
-Hated to be played against
-Players want to be there

Sound familiar?

Obviously winning trumps all, but the blueprint was right in front of the team's eyes for years, all they had to do was copy it.

That’s just a blueprint/recipe for any and all successful sports teams not just the Heat. I don’t follow basketball or the Heat at all but I’m pretty sure there’s even better ran and successful stories out there that Zito and management have relied on for inspiration. If I’m not mistaken in that Athletic article from last year it spoke about how we hired a big time physio from New Zealand who worked with their rugby team team or something. And it also spoke about how players back in the day had to pay for their own meals on the road and things like that. I mean, just investing on the team and players with minimal stuff like that hiring world class employees and amenities for the players goes a long way. It’s made players want to actually play here. Again, this ain’t just a Heat thing. It’s just a world class organization thing.

Think every team wants to copy it but way easier said than done.

Vinny turned out to be a legit owner and not some Marlins level cheapass .
Early on it looked like they were going to micromanage everything and fight fans on twitter.

They got rid of Dale at the right time and hit on Zito. Unlike bringing over Pat Riley, it's not like Zito was a proven GM.

Maurice also came available at the right time, and won over a lot of fans a year ago.

I wasn’t a big fan of Viola in the beginning, but his ability and willingness to learn how to be a good owner really needs to be applauded.

How about getting food and drink as good as the Heat arena? At least one dark beer??? Some variety in food??? Not even asking for the quality of the Dolphins!
