Twas the Leafs night before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the rink
Not a creature was stirring, not even "The Goat", we think.
The jerseys were hung in the lockers with care,
In the hopes that Lord Stanley soon would be there.
The Leaf players were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Mike Babcock danced in their heads;
Like Andersen in net and Matthews in the slot,
All were ready for Christmas, the presents were bought.
When in the halls of ACC there arose such a clatter,
Security sprang into action to see what was the matter.
Like Gardiner's slapshot, there was a great flash.
Someone all in red was seen making a dash.
The shine on the ice from the Zamboni's last round,
Gave light to where a great big sleigh was found.
It was full of shirts, pucks, sticks and new gloves,
The card was signed "From your biggest fan, with love".
With footwork like Marner, this one was slick,
They knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick.
Like falling 'Mighty Ducks' in a line the gifts came,
Each tied, and wrapped, and tagged all by name;
"For Kadri, for Bozak! To Rielly and Zaitsev!
For, JVR and Nylander! To Komarov and Brownie!
To the best in Ontario, to the top of the league!
New equipment for all of you on this Christmas Eve!"
Like the Leafs, the Florida Panthers will attempt to fly,
When they meet just after Boxing Day, under Florida's sunny sky.
Up to the Air Canada Centre he flew,
A sleigh full of skates and St. Nicholas too.
He was chubby and plump, a typical Canadian fan,
Wearing a blue and white jersey and sporting a dark tan.
As the Maple Leafs were asleep in their beds,
The team of eight reindeer flew over their heads.
The next day, at practice they were shocked by the sight,
A hockey-mad Santa had shown his delight.
As a result of being Good at this time of year,
St. Nick reminded their goals, they were near.
Toronto dreamed of the Leafs at Christmas, it's true,
All together they would work as was needed to do.
So the city heard them exclaim, err they drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, remember watching the Leafs play is always a sight!"
