For those out there like me who’ve seen plenty of both tournaments, which tournament do you believe is played at a higher skill level?

The WJC has a best-on-best feel to it, though some players go missing to the NHL. The Memorial Cup teams meanwhile have great chemistry from playing together all year long and have multiple 21 year olds on each team, which can lead to better hockey as well.

WJCs - not close.

You may have one or two (sometimes 3) of the best players from one league on each team in the Mem Cup. You have 7 or 8 of the best players in each of the 3 leagues in the WJCs for Canada. And then several other countries with top tier almost comparable talent.

Any WJC team from the top 4 or 5 countries would run roughshod over the Mem cup champion.

Also, the same guys that the WJC loses to the NHL, the CHL has already lost to the NHL from the beginning of the season.

WJC by a massive margin. The London Knights of 2016 were the best CHL team in recent memory, their top line featured Canada's #1 winger, a top-line winger for the USA and a top 9 center for the USA. Their top D was a top pairing guy for Finland. No one else on the team was a serious WJC threat that year. Even with the 3 overagers factored in, that is a very sizable gap in talent.

WJC by far, just like Olympics has more talent than Stanley Cup final.

The top teams at the WJHC are made up almost entirely with future NHLers, with the remainder still playing professionally. Even the best CHL teams will have guys who won't make it as pros.

The Memorial Cup is one of the hardest trophies to win in North America, for any sport. It's a huge grind through each league's playoffs just to make it to the tournament.
