[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

They’re really committed to their defense. And they have the firepower up front to make you pay for your mistakes.
They’re a really complete team. We’re going to have our hands full this series.
- Dan Girardi

It’s a lot of the same guys on the team that have been there over the years. They’ve been hard-fought series. It’s even keel.
We both know each other well. It’s one of those things, we’ll have to outwork them, out-compete them and see where it goes.
- Marc Staal

In Game 7, they limited a very strong offensive team to 11 shots. I counted three scoring chances.
We go from Crosby and Malkin to Ovechkin and Backstrom. It’s a very strong opponent.
- Alain Vigneault

“@stevezipay: All Rangers except Zuccarello on ice this AM at MSG. Looks like Summers and Hunwick will be the scratches”

Looking forward to seeing James "playoff beast" Sheppard. I heard he once scored a bunch of goals against a Stanley Cup Champion.

Hoping the legend continues tonight!

All kidding aside, could not be more pumped!! LGR!!

Was Nash-Brass-MSL a line at the very beginning of the season?

Dreamt Kreider scored the game winning goal in the 3rd by streaking in from the left wing to pick up a loose puck in the crease and flick a backhand over Holtby. Happy Bday Kreids so go make this happen tonight.

Am I wrong in thinking the Caps forwards are crap? They have Johansson and Chimera in the top 6 and Beagle as 3C...

you are absolutely not.

they have grinders-o-plenty but they all do **** all on the score sheet.

the emergence of kuznetsov worries me, he's quietly gotten better all playoffs. obviously ovi and backstrom you always keep an eye on, but the rest of their forwards just don't do anything for me.

brouwer - well if the object of hockey was to not possess the puck, hit, block shots, and not score at even strength, troy brouwer would be a damn superstar.

laich - the same thing can be said for him.

wilson - is not being used in any manner where he can be effective. so even if he had a plethora of skill, we probably never see it.

johansson - holy **** this guy is useless. so weak on the puck, a light breeze can make him lose control of it. just harass him and the puck is as good as gone.

beagle - actually pretty effective defensively and has a pretty good wrist shot, but he's not a 3c lol

ward - i like ward. he's a great utility player with an underrated scoring touch. that being said, he's a complimentary middle 6 player playing on their top line. fwiw, he's been their best possession player in their series against the isles.

chimera - usually i'd say don't bother, he's useless. but since this is nyr, i'm almost more concerned with shutting chimera down than ovi.

burakovsky - he's a kid, he makes some good plays and is strong on the puck, but he looks out of his element out there.

glencross - should fit right in with the caps theoretically, but hasn't, and is on the 4th line. hasn't done anything worth a damn.

overall, a very very unimpressive forward group.

Take a Wild Guess
but but but they're physically intimidating. they're going to injure 3-4 rangers a game. the rangers have no shot at withstanding the coming physical onslaught. it worked for the capitals against the islanders, its definitely going to work against the rangers four shore.

Anyone have any info on when Eric Fehr might be back? He's a pretty big loss for them up front, depthwise.

Their first and fourth lines are (in theory) better than Ours though
And Their PP as well
Everywhere else we should have the edge though
Time will tell

I gotta say, I absolutely hate how much respect we're giving them in those quotes found in the OP. I would've much preferred them to have actually simply said "**** Washington"...

caps defense is very up and down for me

carlson - is spectacular. the rh ryan mcdonagh. no big holes in his game, top 15 defenseman imo.

orpik - is ****ing garbage. sure he hits and he's actually pretty good at his own blue line, but a team with speed on the forecheck will render him useless, and he's about as helpful with the puck as the janitor at msg. he's really slow and makes lots of dion phaneuf-esque step ups on players that burn him. he makes john carlson worse.

alzner - i don't know what to think of alzner. i'm never impressed with him and don't find him particularly solid anywhere. but he gets it done i guess.

niskanen - i really like matt niskanen, i thought he was their best defenseman against the isles. very solid, positionally, strong on the boards, great puck mover, good shot when he has time and space. he can throw some big hits too. i think him and alzer are the caps real top pair this post season, in terms of just performance.

green - i thought he sucked in the regular season but was excellent against the isles. what the hell happened to his shot though? he never bombs away any more. he used to be the most intimidating ofd in the nhl.

gleason - pylon, good along the boards and nothing more.
