Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid tests positive for COVID-19 - TSN.ca

"Earlier Today, Oilers Captain Connor McDavid underwent medical testing that revealed a positive result for the COVID-19 virus," the team said on its Twitter account. Since that time, he has been in voluntary self-quarantine at his home.

"He will continue to be monitored and will follow all associated health protocols. He is feeling well and is experiencing mild symptoms."

While the sensible approach would be take a "wait and see" approach to see what, if anything, comes of this, but I'm sure there'll be enough people who want to start following chairs out of windows that perhaps we should at least try and keep it to a single topic.

Ah man that sucks. I remember Jones got it before the start of training camp. He seemed to be okay so let's hope the same for Connor. Thankfully it happened in the off season and not during the bubble or the season.

His girlfriend is constantly posting pics on her Instagram having drinking hangouts with her friends. It's possible that's where it came from.

Interesting. The Athletic has an article stating that knowledge of McDavid having COVID was circulating in hockey circles for a bit, so the Oilers decided to get in front of a potential media leak and announce it. I wonder how long he has been sick for then?

That's actually good news because that means he's probably already at or nearing the end of the stage where severe acute complications can occur.

True, but it also means that he might have already had a pretty rough go of things, and we just didn't hear about it. All speculation of course, it is just as likely (and probably more likely actually), that he had the more common reaction of "normal flue symptoms" that most younger people seem to be getting.

Hopefully when the release said that he was only experiencing "mild" symptoms, that it was actually mild and not the type of mild symptoms that Trump was experiencing.
