Exactly this. Malkin always steps up when Crosby was out. Earlier this year, his quote was something like "I have to be fire" and after a slow start he played out of his mind.

Once and for all, this is going to give a (small) sample size of what Drai can do as the #1 C of a franchise. Either he is going to silence his critics or fan the flames.
