McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

Since the Original Six era, the 5th player to lead the league in both goals and assists. Others who did it are Howe, Esposito, Gretzky and Lemieux, and obviously Espo was playing with Orr.

A great accomplishment.

The "150 pts" thing is nice but ultimately trivia given the fluctuations in league scoring. But leading in both categories is rare.
Lemieux did not lead in both in either 89 or 96. He tied for the lead in assists each season. No disrespect intended, but there is a difference between tying blowing away everyone else.

Pointless nitpicking.

Lemieux tied with Gretzky for 114 assists in 1989. Gretzky. The man who lead the league in assists for 13 seasons in a row. As if this should be looked down compared to beating Kucherov by 6 assists.

In 1996 Lemieux tied with Ron Francis, who was playing on the same powerplay (and with Jagr), and Francis was clearly third wheel.

Also, in 1993 Lemieux led the league in both GPG and APG but only played 60 games.

Just trying to gauge the caliber of those players; McDavid ain't no Lemieux just yet, although he's reaching a level close.

What an impressive season. In my opinion one of if not the most impressive ever.

To have dominated in todays league that is the most talented, skilled, athletic, fast, best coached and competitive one ever is incredible.

As a Red Wings fan I am glad he didn't beat Yzerman record of points by anyone not named Gretzky and Lemieux. Historic season by McDavid.
Yep, no reason to be upset McD did not catch Yzi or Ovi.

Best individual season since Mario
Best double-headed monster since Mario/Jagr
Best team PP in history
Best league-wide scoring in 28 years
Exciting times!

Glory to Canadian Rocket!

As many others have pointed out, a clean 150 next season would give him 1000 points in 651 games. Just truly unbelievablely stuff.

If he somehow pulled that off he would be the 3rd fastest to 1000 points.

Yep, if he can collect 150 within his next 86 games (1.744 PPG), he’ll be 3rd quickest.

In the meantime, he’ll need 50 points within his next 29 games (1.667 PPG) to beat Stastny to 4th quickest to 900 points.

1200 career points and beyond is probably where he’s really going to start to put distance between himself at 3rd quickest and the rest of the pack (Esposito is 3rd with 872 games). It’s fairly safe to say that McDavid is going to rack up more than 350 points over his next 303 games (1.155 PPG).
