Matthews vs. Eichel - Which C would you build your team around?

You (and other Sabres fans) keep pushing this BS of Eichel has a better points per game this year!
Eichel plays more per game, and gets more Power play time. Matthews is ahead on P/60

You know, putting up more points at the same amount of ice time. There is nothing to say Eichel did better, even if you use his partial sophmore season compared to Matthews rookie year.

As a fan of neither team that there seems to be some debate in this thread is shocking. I mean it's mostly Buffalo homers and Leaf haters but Matthews CRUSHED Eichel's rookie season and has out produced him in literally every comparable year. Some people are trying to compare Eichel as a soph to Matthews as a rookie which reeks of desperation and is also a lost argument when you look at it with P/60 as above.

Cap it off with Matthews being a better two way player and not giving off the diva vibe like Eichel does and....

Matthews also had very long 7 / 16 game slumps. That should be very concerning.

10 goals 18 assists for 28 points in 82 games. I'll tell you what. We'll trade you Hyman for your first round pick then. That should even the score. Just promise us you won't flip him to Edmonton so he doesn't push McDavid into a 200 point player.

Maybe if Matthews was a better player he would have earned a similar amount of ice time. Hopefully next year he can achieve that level!

13 game slump, Not 16. And he was still putting up points. If you are going to make stupid statements, already don't be making things up.

The fact that as a rookie he has 20 games of slumps combined and still out up 40 goals playing with rookies all year, one being Hyman is beyond impressive.

There is no comparable that puts Eichel ahead. Is it close, sure, but it's clear Matthews has always been superior.

Leafs aren't a 1 line team like Buffalo. Babcock rolls out 4 lines.

If Mathews only played x minutes and scored 40, how many minutes would Babcock give Eichel and his 24 goals? Im guessing 5 minutes less a night and then Eichel probably doesn't even score 20.

Yeah because being tied for 2nd in the league in goals as a rookie suggests a low level of play.

Until Eichel actually outscores Matthews in real life Matthews is better.
