Love the old dude. While he didn't produce as much offensively, he was immensely important in these playoffs.

He will be missed in a huge way!

Feels like an appropriate time to bump this.

Matt Cullen, on his 41st birthday and 1500th NHL game has just scored his 267th goal and 748th point.

He remains one of the greatest average players ever, and worthy of appreciation.

And he follows it up with his 749th point with a primary assist on an Ennis goal

I can't think of any career tweener /good 3rd liner player that played so many years and still playing in there 40s.

Still has good wheels, and is effective. After a great 1st period, he kind of messed up later with a neutral zone turnover that resulted in a MTL goal. The fact that such a mistake by him is so rare tells you a lot about him.

I was going, "Cullen?!" at the TV.

He is going to retire as the highest scoring player out of his entire draft class. Matt Cullen.

Never scored more than 49 points, but because of how good of a player he is, will be the highest scorer of his class.

Greatest average hockey player in the history of the NHL.

That is pretty incredible looking back on it. That draft was chock full of d-men, but outside of Briere, no real high end talent came of it at forward.

Top 5 scoring forwards:
Briere
Cullen
Zubrus
Dumont
Sturm

Something to be said for his longevity for sure.

Meanwhile on defense, you had some quality offensive d-men:

Chara
Kaberle
NHL Player Derek Morris
Kubina
Salo

I think he is the biggest difference between Penguins last year compared to this. Without him our bottom 6 looks like shit.

What are the typical requirements to get into the U.S. hall of fame?

I mean, he has three Stanley Cups and with soon 1400 NHL games he's near the top amongst Americans all time. But if they put much
emphasis on international play then I guess there's no chance.
