Could be fantastic if Nill could make some magic and find a way to sign both of Pavs and Zucc's.

Zucc wants 5 years and 6++ million.. too greedy to sign. He gone. He will waste away in Buffalo/Minnesota missing the playoffs every year.

It's just funny when players say, "we play to win" .. then go sign with low tier teams because they will give you 1 more year on a contract.

Clearly you aren't playing to win.. well maybe not win the Stanley Cup but win big at the casino with your extra $6Million

Pavelski is actually playing to win.. he said I'm going to Tampa, Dallas or another winning team. He turned away bad teams because they can't win.

But guys signing five year deals have no idea who will be a winner three seasons from now. They have no idea who will be on the roster or who the coach will be.

Look at Radulov. He's about to enter year three of his contract, and the team he'll skate with in October bears very little resemblance to the one he signed with. Had he given a discount to sign with a team that was better two seasons ago, who knows what situation he'd be in now because things change so much season to season.

What exactly have we won? And how many years in a row have we made the PO? 1, yeah we're clearly in with the elite

Look, this team may have weaknesses but don't forget we were a bad stick curve away from sending the Blue's packing. That would have put us in the WCF which is an impressive accomplishment.

What team has a better chance of making the playoffs and going on a run? Dallas or Minnesota?

I think that statement isn't about fan opinion. It's about Joe Pavelski's opinion. He decided that Dallas was a team could win now. We can debate whether he's right or not, but the fact is a top player chasing a Cup thought enough of the team to consider them.

If reports are correct from Friedman, he may have chosen the team, but we'll see tomorrow. I think there are reasonable concerns about Dallas being an actual team that's turned a corner. Nill and the organization seem to have been able to at least alleviate or answer those questions in a way that a top free agent has them as a top 2 destination.

All I'm saying is what we think about the team is pretty irrelevant compared to the players that may or may not sign here.

Don’t understand why Zuccarello would do that. It’s obvious that we offered him the same deal but just one less year.

Guess the money was more important then winning. His call, that’s fine.

The subtle saltiness of the "guess money is more important" posts would be warranted if you weren't talking about a player who's been on team friendly deals his whole career.

I loved seeing you play in Dallas as well, Mats, but go get your money. You've earned it.

Yeah when Zucc was in New York he took a pretty significant cut to his salary just to keep Stepan. He was told they couldn't keep both of them, so he took the hit for the team. In other negotiations he was also kind of being shafted because he really loved New York. The GM knew this and knew his love for the team would mean they could keep him for less.

Zucc knows he only has x years left. After his career, being an ex-hockey pro in Norway isn't exactly the most lucrative thing you can do. If he's lucky he might become like a TV host type because of his likeability, but more likely he'll end up coaching a team in Norway - which doesn't exactly make you rich.

Now he just has to focus on the rest of his career and build up bank so he can invest and live comfortably the rest of his life. I would do the same after sacrificing so much for his previous teams.

Sucks that its the Mild where he's signing . Sadly 5 years was just not going to happen not combined with the fact that a 2020 1st would go to the Rangers and he 2020 Draft is supposedly incredible . The Stars already don't have their 2020 2nd rounder thanks to that Methot trade a couple of years back. Not having the 1st as well would in 2020 would really be awful.

Happy we went with Pavelski over Zucc, only because of the 1st. But I wish he could have signed with a contender. I’d like to see him win a cup.

Have mixed feelings about spurning a known quantity because at 32, he wants to sign until he's 37, for a guy who's 35, and will be signed until he is 38......Yeah, I know there are some contract benefits between 2022 and 2024.....

And Perry is unlikely to be our second scoring forward in UFA. In the end, MN and DAL are both still borderline PO teams, and one will get in, the other not likely. STL, NSH and WPG pretty much locks, COL looking strong for 1st WC, leaving us scrapping with MN and CHI for the second WC, no?

Yes, one of the top 3 could stumble out of the PO this year, like NSH trading Suban out for Duchene in, don't know if the chemistry works, etc. But probably not 2 or 3 of the top teams, although, its not unheard of for even a SC champ to stumble out of the PO the next year.

I think the standings are just gonna tighten even more this year . There’s no telling who is gonna be where . There will probably be 6 points separating 1st from 8th .

I think we can probably close this one now, with him signing elsewhere.
