Bummed about Robertson getting hurt today. Freak play. Not much he could do to avoid it. I'd guess he's going to be out a while.

Was looking forward to watching Ho-Sang again but he didn't play.

What happened to Robby?

He got hit awkwardly by two players at the same time. Looked like his skate picked into the ice as he was falling back and his knee folded in under him.

Looked quite painful.
Did he skate off the ice on his own?

Keefe managed to figure it out. So did Davison/MacLean when Moore was in his transitionary period.

LW Nick Robertson – C Kirill Semyonov – RW Josh Ho-Sang
LW Pavel Gogolev – C Semyon Der-Arguchintsev – RW Joey Anderson
LW Brett Seney – C Mikhail Abramov – RW Alex Steeves
LW Marc Michaelis – C Antti Suomela – RW Jack Kopacka
LW Rich Clune - C Curtis Douglas – RW Kurtis Gabriel

LD Carl Dahlstrom – RD Alex Biega
LD Kristians Rubins – RD Joseph Duszak
LD Filip Kral – RD Brennan Menell
LD Teemu Kivihalme – RD Mac Hollowell
LD Matt Hellickson

G Erik Kallgren – G Michael Hutchinson
G Joseph Woll (LTIR)

That is easily a playoff team with any kind of capable coach. The only move that may help the Marlies out right now is moving Kivihalme for a forward to help deal with some injuries. We have guys available to replace Kivihalme and Hollowell, and neither are worth keeping around long term right now.

Elite? Really? Im skeptical
For an AHL group? Absolutely. Kral/Menell both played in high level mens leagues last year, Biega and Dahlstrom are servicable NHL guys (maybe not Dahlstrom) and Hollowelll/Duszak/Rubins/Kivihalme all played in the top 4 at times for the Marlies last year.

1-8 it should be one of the best/deepest groups in the AHL regardless of their long term NHL prospects.

Your Worst Nightmare
Keefe had way less talent than this team at times.

Moore has an elite AHL defense group. If he can't win games now he has to go.
After his first year with the Marlies I would have been perfectly fine with them reassessing the coaching situation when there was more available in the off-season. Being in year 3 of Greg Moore seems like a big waste of time. They could be good, why let Moore coach and suck? Seems like a management issue on top of a coaching issue to not be able to find a coach for 3 seasons in Toronto, the richest AHL team.

He really has given them zero reason to bring him back and they keep doing it.

They are not an elite blue line whatsoever. If you watch them play and come away thinking it can be an elite group, don’t know what to say.

You can only put so much blame on the system, which I agree is horrible. They’ve been abysmal for two years now. Hollowell is not progressing, Duszak is still a mess defensively, Rubins can’t anchor a shutdown pair on his own, and Kral is a rookie.

When 3/4 of your blue line are OFDs, you’re going to have problems regardless of the coach. It’s not just about the individual pieces but how they fit.

Agree and Like

Though we have reinforcements coming soon in Kokkonen, Niemela, that RHD from the QMJHL, maybe Koster in a few years

Hopefully we move on from the guys who can't cut it t the AHL and give those guys a shot to develop and build back a strong defensive core
