Why do the Flames consistently run goalies into the ground? Last year they had Rittich and Talbot, Talbot played well, but they still blasted Rittich up until the all-star break and he got hurt, then Talbot proved he was a capable back-up.

What really upsets me about this is that the Flames were going to go right back to Markstrom tonight after he was pulled from his last 2 starts (presumably completely exhaustd/hurt) and Rittich had played well against the Oilers game 1, and was hung out to dry in other games.

Well this blows, but Rittich has shown he is capable of handling a decently sized load (that's what she said). It's not like we're rocking Hiller back there.

I think it was the Pearson play. I think that’s why he didn’t play game 1 against the Oilers

Bring in goalie known for injuries play him 15 out of 18 games, who could have seen this coming?
He’s never been a workhorse 65 game a season goalie. Needs his rest and mental break to work on his game.

he’s had periods where he had to carry the load because his backups got hurt. But he would also go down with an ailment as well.

he should have been on a 38-40 game pace this season.

The good news is Rittich will get his minutes. This is only day to day, so far. So it doesn’t sound serious. Last year we were all comfortable with Rittich, so at least he will get some games to get his game going.
