He’s not just a bad defenseman, he’s just not good anymore. I’d rather have McCarron, Shaw, Mitchell, De la Rose, or Carr in our lineup than play Streit at all, even if it’s on the 4th line.

Isn't that part of the reason he left the first time? He didn't want to be a rover going back and forth from the 4th line to defence?

He was done last year.. dont know why would think he would be better this year.

He basically cant touch the ice on 5vs5, is a PP specialist only.

Hmm and here I thought that this guy was a good pickup because of his points last year on the pens. I thought he was a solid depth move and great PP specialist :sarcasm:

Preseason guys, I didn't like it, but I won't judge till the games tighten up next week.

Pretty much this. Not a good first impression, but just like anyone else, he should be given the benefit of the doubt at this moment because it was his first pre-season game.

It might take some guys a game or two to get themselves going, and others may need a week or two. Streit could very well fall in the latter category. As long as he gets going at some point. If not, then 700K for 1 year won't hurt the Habs if he doesn't pan out.

Seeing how terrible he has become as a dman, would it be worth it to try him on the fourth line?

if there is one thing this team definitely DOES NOT NEED....it is more 4th liners!!!

holy crap....enough is enough already!

Streit might still be a capable 7th defenseman.

But how could we know after last night ? They played him 25:08....

He looked gased ? Yeah no kidding. ..

He got beat easily at the beginning of the game for a goal against. He’s just not a good player anymore. He should just go home to play in the Swiss league.

even if its pre-saison game, Streit need to show what he still can do, he need to prove that he's still capable...at this point, Jerabek play over him in 1 week

He looked like MAB out there minus the ridiculous slapper. That's bad. If he's in our top 6...I don't want to think about it.

He is not an effective NHL player anymore. It was a zero risk contract that I think most people realized would probably not work out.

Bergevin has a 2.0 fetish. Rehashing of old, useless ex Habs players and coaches.

Therrien 2.0 - Fail
Bouillon 2.0 (1st wave PP! Lol) - Fail
Ryder 2.0 - Good move. (Thanks, Seb)
Streit 2.0 - Imminent Fail
Julien 2.0 - Jury is out but with this roster? High Failure probability
Therrien 3.0 - The Scout Edition...

Who's next? Maybe Komisarek can come back and play LD with Weber. Yeah, that should work.

If Hemsky consistently plays in the top 9 this year, let alone on the top line and Streit plays the whole year in the AHL, I will be ecstatic by BOTH of these signings. These are the type of signings that don't all individually work out. But if you get one that works, the crop was worth it.
