Can we talk about this kid yet? 2009 5th round draft pick of the Hawks, leading the SEL in scoring with nine points in four games.. a phenomenal start, to say the least.

All I've seen are Youtube clips, do any DIF / SEL fans have a scouting report on him?

That goal was disgusting, including the initial pass. Talk about some chemistry on that unit.

It's hereby dubbed the JAM-line (Jacob, Andreas, Marcus) by an hockey-expert here in Sweden. They've been having some amazing chemistry this season. Saying it could be the best line this season.

Jacob Josefson: 0+4
Andreas Engqvist: 3+1
Marcus Krüger: 3+6

17 points in 4 games :amazed:

Whether or not he can continue at anything like this pace, it's a remarkable start.

Kruger's stat line is 4gp 3g 6a 9pts

In previous seasons, the leading junior-aged scorers in the SEL were:

season Name GP-G-A-Pts
08-09 Lars Eller 48-12-17-29
07-08 Johan Alcen 29-4-6-10
06-07 Nicky Backstrom 45-12-28-40
05-06 Nicky Backstrom 46-10-16-26
04-05 Loui Eriksson 39-5-9-14
03-04 Alex Steen 48-10-14-24

Those passes were absolutely disgusting :amazed:.

Agreed. Josefson's behind the back, no look, one touch pass was especially ridiculous. Devils fans are really excited about him, we think he could possibly step straight into our top 6 next year.

For me it's that saucer pass. Perfectly placed, gave Josefson the option to try something like that. Beauty.

I read in today`s paper that HÃ¥kan Andersson were going to pick Kruger at #150 but the Blackhawks stole him at #149:laugh:

I thought up until Chicago picked him that he would be a Red Wing, it's just the typical player HÃ¥kan likes. Guess HÃ¥kan didn't believe strongly enough in him to pick him earlier. Or was the north american Red Wings scouts too high on Gleaston Fournier? Tough luck..

The saucer pass was nice, but the hockey sense displayed by Josefson to quickly pass it back like that is what made that play, in my view. In any event, a great sequence by three young players. Very nice to see.

Yeah, I think it's pretty evident he won't keep this pace up or even become a PPG player over the full season, but he's a great surprise.

I'm keeping my eye on him for sure.

Question for those who would know:

I've seen some preliminary rosters people put out for Sweden's WJC team. Assuming he makes it, what position would he likely play? I've seen people put him on center and wing.

It depends in part on whether Josefson is used at C or R. Paajarvi and Tedenby are on L, so I would guess Kruger and JJ to be C and R.

I don't see why not, he's got a crazy head start on it.

I'm being conservative. It's likely that defenders will figure out the Kruger line as the season goes on and they draw more attention.

Obviously as a Hawk fan, I hope Kruger keeps it up and root for him to be a PPG player or better.

Kruger 1+1 already in 2nd period today. This is one of the best starts ever by a junior player in SEL. Maybe the best.

it would be interesting to compare his game-by-game stats with Nicky Backstrom's from 06-07 when Nicky scored 40 points.

Get the HF hype machine warmed up for this kid. ;)

Good to see the kid getting his minutes and showing what the youngsters can do when given their chance.

Plenty of these coming, though....

Any update on this kid? I took a complete flyer on him in my keeper pool's 2009 Entry Draft with the last overall pick of the draft (160th overall)
