but Marchand is definitely the better 200ft player as one of the best defensive wingers and elite PK'er

jvr had a pretty sick season last year tbh but hes no tavares combined with marner taking that next step this year

While I agree with this....I think Marner is progressing well defensively...he has been PKing this year and has been doing very well.....

yeah, wasn't implying that Marner was 1 dimensional. Just that as of now, its not fair to compare them on the PK/defensively.

I am not comparing them, I actually voted Marchand. I am saying he has been progressing well and considering his age I expect his defensive side of the game will be much better in time.

Question about this. Has Marchand always been this kind of 200 foot player or is this something that is a result of him playing with and learning from Bergeron? I never really noticed how good Marchand was in his own end until last season.

Yup, certainly same tier. I think Marner is the best player on the Leafs who have several very good players.
