I actually predicted the amount a few days ago in some FB comment posts. If McDavid is 12.5 then Mack was going to want 12.6

Largely symbolic as someone else will surely get 12.7 the next off-season but for right now I think MacKinnon had his case. Yes, McDavid is the best, has the numbers, etc. but MacKinnon was a) on a bargain contract that was a major factor in the Avs being able to add the pieces they needed and b) he was part of a Cup winner. McDavid, Matthews, etc. can't make that claim.
