Alright so this is really short notice, but I managed to snag an interview with Nic Kerdiles of Team USA USNTDP this weeked. As I do with many of my interviews that I mention on HFBoards, I like to give fans the opportunity to pose questions they would like answered.

He is a 2012 NHL draft hopeful that has been ranked in the first round of ISS's rankings every month so far this season.

Send me some questions if you have any. Can't wait to hear from you guys.

Solid questions.

Anyone else? All questions are appreciated.

What is it about the Wisconsin program that made you commit?

With the extremely young team that is in Madison now, where do you see yourself fitting in?

And of course are you ready to JUMP AROUND?

On Wisconsin!

Is the USHL more of a physical league that has slower play or does it encourage speed and skill.

What are the weeks like ? How many games do you play a week and would you like to play more ?

Thanks a lot guys. Conducting the interview tonight. Any last questions from anyone? I have about 7-10 of my own. I would like to hear of some questions I may have not thought of/haven't heard before. Get them in ASAP.

Hahahahaha. Since I don't typically like to do your standard "serious question answered with a cliche answer", I might have to use the one above and see if I can come up with any more "thinking/funny" questions he may have never heard.

Were you able to do the interview? When will we get to read it or read his answers?

Should have a story up later this week. My school schedule has been giving me a lot of problems of late, but I will try to have it up by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

Good move. I'm guessing these guys get rather tired of the typical questions/canned response, so throwing in a couple of humorous ones will keep things relatively light and let the guys know you're a comfortable/enjoyable interview.

There is very little discussion about this guy on these boards considering he is projected as a first rounder. Does anyone have any info on him?

Who would you compare him to?

Big, USA kid with a decent amount of talent and a great head on his shoulders.

Yup, he'll be the NYR first round pick next year if we don't trade it away.

No h in his name, btw.

I've read reports he is a sniper but I just didn't see that in him. What I saw in Kerdiles was a two-way forward who is very good in all zones, plays a simple game, and does show flashes of ability to make nifty moves, but 90% makes the smart, simple play to keep the offense going. Two-way forward with top nine forward potential.

Originally, I wasn't very high on him because I didn't see much dynamic ability but as the game went on, he grew onto me. He was just good in all aspects of is game, and at times, he would pull a nifty move and make me think there's alot more to his game than just being reliable.

That said, I've only managed to catch 2 games of him so perhaps that isn't the best sample size to judge a player.

He reminds me a bit of J.T. Miller. Similar size and skills with a comparable upside. Probable top 20 selection.

I think that's a pretty apt assessment. Very rarely does he "wow" you with his play. He's just.. solid. Very solid in fact, but nothing jumps out at you and screams top-six forward. It's those flashes of brilliance that kind of make it seem like there's more there.

The scouting reports on Kerdiles sound somewhat similar to what scouts were saying about Max Paciorretty in his draft year. I remember wanting the Ducks to draft MaxPac at 19 in 2007 but instead Burke chose to go with Logan MacMillan :thumbd:

I'm hoping the Ducks are able to secure an additional first rounder because a guy like Kerdiles is exactly what the Ducks could use at LW.
