I couldn't find his old thread assuming there was one as he didn't do much in his time in the OHL. Pezzetta was rumored to have some possible NHL interest on waivers and since then he's been a man possessed in Laval playing his best hockey of his career. He's got as many points in 6 games as he had all last year and looks like he will put up more points this season in the AHL then his 3 years there combined (granted he was a 4th line that didn't play a ton).

I love this player so much!! He could be what I thought Cedric Paquette would be on the fourth line.

and as a true hockey fight fan myself, this kid would put on a show for sure. Ryan White 2.0 with more skills

Think White had more skill to be honest. Feel like Pezzetta is much better skater though which might help him more on 4th line.

Looking strictly at stats, seems like he's having a good season in the AHL so far... I'm very curious to see how he does up with the Habs now that he's been called up...

A pretty skilled troublemaker type??!

Leaf fan here. I've only seen him in his exhibition games against Toronto last month but he was a standout from my perspective. He played really well in all the games I saw him in and is a fun player to watch and an easy player to hate as a rival fan. Not surprised he got called up so soon after the pre-season and his hot start to the AHL.

Also his long curly ginger hair reminds me of Daniel Alfredsson's in the mid-2000s when Toronto was playing them in the playoffs frequently. Another reason that makes him easy to hate for me

your probably talking an energy 4th liner, he had a good preseason and good start but it was the grindy goals which lord knows we need

we don't need goals.. we need the pick 1-4 this year and early round picks in the later rounds.. also, great year to unload 1 or 2 vets for draft picks for this year or next..

How has Pezzetta been for the Canadiens this year? Would it be safe to pencil him in on the 4th line next year?

I haven't seen every game but he's been pretty solid so yes I would have him as a lock for the 4th line next year unless the Habs new management team pulls a big surprise and tries to retool thinking they can get a few more years out of Price, Petry, Gallagher, etc... but I would be shocked if that's what happened. Assuming the rebuild is on, Pezzetta will be there next season.

If a team looking for playoff toughness came knocking and inquired about Pezzetta at the Trade Deadline - what kind of value would HuGo move him for? Would you be satisfied with a 3rd in return? Would it take more as it's likely a 3rd doesn't even develop into a NHL player like Pezz? Does a young team like the Habs need to keep some cheap, young, 4th line toughness or is he easily replaceable via FA or by our AHL depth?

I'd jump at a third for him.

Pezzeta is an energy guy and a good story but he's a 13th forward on an NHL contender at best. He has 15pts in 85 NHL games and isn't a defensive specialist.

Other NHL teams would have better options for cheaper.

well 3rd is very good value for him but this team is loaded with picks and prospects, i think any trade has to be weighed vs the impact he has in the locker room/team culture

I love Pezz and I'd jump at a 3rd for him as well. We might not even get 3rd for Hoffman/Dadonov/Drouin lol

And RHP's emergence has probably made him expendable.

I don't see the point in trading him since I highly doubt he would return a 3rd so and we have a ton of picks after the 3rd round although you could get a pick or '24 or '25 but I assume the Habs will struggle the next few years so I wouldn't trade any young players unless the offer is too good.

I'm not trading Pezzetta for a 3rd. Habs have more than enough picks. He's young, will remain cheap and is an adequate agitator / middleweight to take some of the burden off Arber
