Bruins fan here. Loui never really found his niche with the B's but is still known for his solid two way play around the league, respectively.

Just curious would you do:

To Anaheim:
Loui Eriksson

For

To Boston:
Devante Smith-Pelly
3rd rounder

Thanks guys.

At this point I am hesitant to trade DSP. He's starting to find a groove quite nicely as a middle 6 forward with some spot time on the top line.

Ducks would probably do it straight up without the 3rd.

To be honest, I don't see the point of acquiring a winger like ericson, I feel we have a clone in Silfverberg (style wise not production wise). Ericson is much more established, but his cap hit is a lot higher too. I'm hoping silf will get things going soon and Kyle Palmieri is back soon too, so we won't even be thinking of going this direction.

If I were going to acquire Erickson I would send silf/Kyle Palmeiri back. If I were going for a Marchand type, I would be sending DSP or Etem back.

Loui Eriksson isn't the player he once was and I worry about his health. Also he makes a lot more money and Ducks have internal budget.

Lots of varied responses here. To me I haven't seen DSP really take hold of anything unless he is playing with the twins. Pretty sure all of his production has come there. But generally I would prefer Maroon with them. That to me leaves DSP struggling to find a spot. I haven't thought he looked great with Kesler and he did nothing in the bottom 6 that stands out to me. I'd likely trade him for Eriksson. That being said, I think BM wont be making any moves till he gets a mostly healthy roster. Need to see where Palmieri fits. If Palms-Kes-Silf can combine for a consistent and producing threat or even just add stability throughout the lineup then there wouldn't be a need to add Eriksson. If he can't I would like to add that Vet to help Kesler out and another Swede to mentor Silf is not a bad idea either.

This seems uncannily like the thinking about Beleskey a year ago. Devo is leading the team in hits, and he's shown an ability to slot into various roles for the team. He's still got some work to do, but we don't have another forward in the pipeline like him. Meanwhile, this trade just makes us softer and plays into the hands of teams like LA. Silver is basically providing what we'd want out of Eriksson, and if we need another two-way winger down the road, we've got one playing his rookie season in Norfolk and another one with us now: Rakell.

I'd do it. I like DSP but Eriksson is (still) on another level. I think he'd mesh really well with Kesler too.

I think part of Eriksson's struggles comes from playing in Boston's system. I think he'd do better in Anaheim but I'd prefer a winger with more jump. Still, I think it's evident that the Ducks need another top six winger. Aside from Perry and Maroon there is none.

The last thing we need is to trade a hart hitting young power forward for another soft Euro
Definitely pass

Would you be more interested in a soft american or canadian?

DSP helps us be #built4theplayoffs. (half sarcasm) Well that and he's just an awesome young power forward that I like in our top 6 or bottom 6. I think we can use another winger, and hopefully it turns out to be what Gaborik was for the Kings last year. Not sure who that would be for us this year... Maybe Eriksson? If Palmieri shows up when he gets back there isn't much point obviously.

I would like to see Palmieri play before trading for a winger. A top 4 defender and a 3rd line center are bigger needs right now I think.

Yeah id love another Jason Krog or Marty Mcinnis :sarcasm:
This team is finally having the type of balance between toughness and skill its lacked for years.
3rd line center and top4 physical dman is the only true weakness.

this...its selling really really low on loui, my only issue with doing this from the ducks is that he hasnt been the same player since his injury last year....he can end up being done and this trade looks/hurts soooo bad, or if he returns to his old self its a absolute steal

I think Boston does it to clear cap room and the Ducks do it to improve our first line with getz and pears. win win. He is only 3 seasons removed from a 71 point season.

I wouldn't do it. DSP is too close to turning into a 40 point physical wrecking ball. And he's only 22. Loui is 29 and rapidly declining, and has concussion problems in the last year.

Smith-Pelly really fits in on this team. The Ducks are actually a big team this year and they finally have enough hitters. I'd hate to break that up by trading for a soft declining player

Rapidly declining is a gross exaggeration. He's not a 70 point guy anymore but he's playing at a similar pace this season as he has the past two seasons. He's also very good defensively.

2009-2010: .87 PPG
2010-2011: .92 PPG
2011-2012: .87 PPG
2012-2013 (lockout year): .60 PPG
2013-2014 (missed 20 games w/ concussion): .61 PPG
2014-2015: .55 PPG so far

I'm not liking that trend too much. We don't need another soft defensive specialist. Silfverberg already does that for peanuts (although not quite as good). I just wouldn't trade a 22 year old power forward who can be a huge asset for us the next 5-10 years for 2 years of a guy making more money and not scoring as much as he once did
