Is there a way that we could multiply every Corsi or Fenwick event by the league average Fenwick/Corsi shooting percentage from that location? This would seem to give us a number that was more closely tied to goals for and against.
I have no idea how this could be implemented... but wouldn't it be great?
If it is too hard to multiply by location based shooting percentage it might be easier to just do shot distance based shooting percentage, but a shot from the slot just means so much more than a tough angle shot from the same distance.
It would also produce a number each game that possession diehards could claim is the goals each team should have scored, which would be awesome.
In reality, maybe I'm just a Avs fan butt hurt about their ****** possession numbers and clawing in the dark for something that makes them look better.
