I wasn't aware of this until you asked, but you are correct. Valeri died in 1981, Ilya was born in 1983 and Evgeni in 1986.

Still their favorite player. Kovy wears 17 in his honour and Malkin wears the reverse of 71. If I remember correctly, Kovalchuk wears 71 in international play.
