He's just being childish.
The more people criticize his use of Hyman, the more he defends him with ridiculous statements like that.
Sign of an insecure coach...in my opinion, anyway.
Not sure why so many people bash Hyman to begin with.
What are you looking for? 12 50 goal scorers?
What if I told you I can surround your stars with hard forechecking 18-20 goal scorers?

Zach Hyman 13 goals
JT Miller 11 goals
Gourde 17 goals
Palat 7 goals

People should be more concerned with a RHD partner for Rielly.

You do know that numbers don;t tell the whole story, right?
Hyman has 4 or 5 empty net goals, and a couple kicked in by opposing d men..
And if you watch the guy play you will see he is terrible on the rush..can't handle the puck or make a play..,,and a lot of marner/tavares efforts are wasted because of him.........just look at their stats since Hyman came back and replaced Johnsson on that line..
And have you ever wondered why Hyman never plays with matthews anymore?
Think about it.
But..we have discussed this for several years now and the fact is that most people are not opposed to Hyman ..it's babcock's insistence of putting him in the top 6..

I think we should go with 11 forwards and 7 dmen.

At home, we control the match ups, so I think it's good to have a shutdown line and stack the scoring lines. We shouldn't play the matching game too much though, we should be dictating pace for the most part.

At Home:

Johnsson - Tavares - Marner
Nylander - Matthews - Kapanen
Hyman - Kadri - Brown (shutdown line)
Marleau - [no 12th fwd] - Ennis

We should mainly be playing the top 3 lines. When we do give the 4th line limited minutes, we should double shift one of the centers (Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, and Kadri). Give them all some extra time on the 4th line, but obviously let the game determine who gets more of that extra ice time. Go with the center that's making things happen out there.

Reilly - Gardiner
Muzzin - Zaitsev
Dermott - Hainsey / Ozhi

Emphasis on playing the top 4 dmen. Zaitsev and Hainsey should be used more on the PK. Hainsey, Ozhi and Zaitsev can be cycled into the pairings depending on who is playing ok and with a view to give Hainsey manageable minutes. He's ok when he's not being overused.

Away:

Have more balance in the lineup.

Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Johnsson - Matthews - Kapanen
Brown - Kadri - Nylander
Marleau - [no 12th fwd] - Ennis

Reilly - Gardiner
Muzzin - Zaitsev
Dermott- Hainsey / Ozhi

Would love to insert Moore into the 4th line (both home and away) and have Marleau as a healthy scratch but that seems very unlikely to happen.

Hmm I seriously wonder if Kadri will end up on the wing. With the way Nylander has played recently at C, it would be interesting to see the mix up.

I would load up 2 lines

Kadri-Matthews-Nylander
Kapanen-Tavares-Marner
Hyman-Marleau-Brown
Johnsson-Goat-Moore

Turn Marleau into the shut down line. Something like Osborne-Zezel-Berg line of the past. Tell them their roles and let them dig, skate and bang with defensive responsibility.

The 4th line would be our secret weapon and would totally outplay other 4th lines.

Our top 2 lines would be unstoppable that's a given. Speed, skill and defensive awareness.

If you're going to stack the top two lines like that (which is an idea I like), I'd tweak it slightly:

Nylander - Matthews - Kapanen
Kadri - Tavares - Marner

I like the London Knights connection. Nylander has played LW a lot in the past and he's also played with Kapanen on the other side. Matthews seems to have some chemistry with both (certainly Nylander).

*Hyman becomes first player to play every minute of a game*
A thought experiment ...

A team of Hymans ... against a team of Nylanders ...

After 82 games, who will win more?

The answer is kind of obvious.

The tortoise versus the hare.

Run and gun hockey has not been around the NHL since the late 1980s.

Nylanders would toy with the Hymans

This is what I think would give us the most balanced attack based on what Babs would realistically consider deploying:

Marleau-Tavares-Marner
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Ennis-Gauthier-Brown
Moore, Petan

Rielly-Muzzin
Gardiner-Zaitsev
Dermott-Hainsey
Ozhiganov

Well, at least some of them are good for a laugh, especially from the anti-Hyman crowd.

Johnsson Matthews Kapanen
Hyman Tavares Marner
Marleau Nylander Kadri
Ennis Gauthier Brown

We don't know a lot yet, but I'd expect Dermott is more likely to come back for the playoffs than Gardiner.

Sounds like Gardiner has met with a surgeon and is contemplating surgery, the same one Parise had that kept him out 39 games.

Were gonna have to really hope Rosen can be a revelation and be a legit, effective, NHL player. Time will tell.

Or we could just give Rielly and Muzzin the kind of minutes they actually deserve.

Ya, sure, that'd be great. Not gonna argue that. Someone still has to be on that 3rd pairing, unless you have Ronald playing on his correct hand side and Z, Oz and Holl down the right... I mean, I dunno how my comment is invalid even if Rielly and Muzzin play a lot.
