Good point. But if my napkin math is right, he could steal Fleury's spot.

$8.5M in cap space before calling up Myers.

Vasy's cap hit is $9.5M.

We would send down Merela and Tompkins, that's just over $1.6M.

Keeping Myers costs us $1.15M since $250k is already going against the cap (bury penalty).

So we'd still be $0.55M above the cap. Fleury's cap hit is $0.76M.

Not a fan of Myers but this is a well deserved call up. If he is as effective in Tampa as he has been this season in Syracuse, he will not be back as he will be claimed if sent back down. He has been a rock on the Crunch blueline and is playing with an attitude that makes him that much more valuable. If he can get that cannon of a shot on net, he will be on the Lightning roster for the rest of the season.
