Captain Dave Poulin
Imaginary Cat
Morin is almost ready and he'll be a horse in the nhl. There was an article about him but I forgot where I read it but Gordon praises him and says he's ready.
You are going to love this guy more than anyone

In this article,
http://www.thesportster.com/hockey/top-15-recent-nhl-draft-picks-teams-are-already-regretting/
the sportster says that Morin is a pick the Flyers are regretting. Is this a false accusation, or do we let our bias Flyers fan glasses obscure us from the truth?
This list includes many busts that everybody agrees with such as Griffin Reinhart, Nail Yakupov and Magnus Paajarvi. I do understand that Morin is still young, but do not forget that he was drafted in 2013 and it is now 2017 and he has yet to make his NHL debut.
As well, what do you guys think his current NHL comparable is in terms of effectiveness and impact on the game? Please don't say Pronger (even though he's retired) just because he is 6'6". If he is a projected top 4 or top 2 or top 6, what player is closest to what the Flyers are expecting out of this guy?
Article is a piece of drivel. Big Dmen develop more slowly. Parayko could not stop tripping over his feet two years ago, now he's a stud. Sam is going to be a very good NHL Dman.
Chara's development path is often exaggerated. He showed good offensive improvement in his first year in Ottawa after being traded at age 24. He scored 10 goals & put up 23 points in 75 games. The next season as a 25 year old he scored 9 goals & put up 39 points in 74 games.
It's still an outlier but it's not as crazy as some people lead you to believe. As if he didn't really develop into his 20's or something.
Ah, thanks for pointing that out!

Never was a huge fan of the Morin pick, but hopefully he can develop into a solid #4-5.
I kind of lost some respect for the Flyers scouting staff after watching the "Flight Plan" special on the Flyers' 2013 draft. I realize it's heavily edited, but of the stuff in that are terrible regardless. They just talk in circles until Morin is #6 on the draft board, ahead of guys like Monahan.
Not sure where you're seeing this.It is quite obvious that it was pretty much 'Holmgren mandated' that they take a D.
They basically infer Monahan is a better player than all the D, but no point listing him there as they would be taking a D anyway even if he is there! So they list 6 D in a row around where they will pick.
Not sure where you're seeing this.
i would be lying if I said I wasn't a tad disappointed in his development as an offensive contributor, but as a 3rd pairing shut down defenseman he will be great and probably already better than what we have on the NHL roster...
I see him as a more physical Coburn.
That was always the book on coburn--all tools, lacked the box. Morin looks to have a better iq.
Someone compared Hagg with Gudas. Morin might be a better comparable. As 20 year old rookies in the AHL:
Gudas
76 games
4 goals
13 assists
17 points (.22 PPG)
116 shots (1.53/gm)
165 PIMs (2.17/gm)
Morin
76 games
4 goals
15 assists
19 points (.25 PPG)
104 shots (1.37/gm)
118 PIMs (1.55/gm)
What makes you say that? My biggest concern about Morin is hockey sense. The times I've seen him he's made errors with the puck and gotten himself out of position.
