You're delusional if you think an expansion team takes Mike smith and if you think he is the best option. He's played good for 10 games this season. Small sample size.

Pickard/varlamov in colorado
Murray/fleury/
Bishop/vislevsky
Dubnyk/keumper
Holtby/grubeur
Hutchinson/hellebyuk
Rask/subban
Mrazek/coreau
Talbot/brossoint
Reimer

Not to mention teams MUST expose at least 1 contracted goalie, which means teams will need to sign a lot of these UFA goalies prior to expansion so that they can protect their starters.

Just a whole bunch of goalies available that are younger and cheaper than a guy who might give u 2 good years before being out of the NHL.

Younger and cheaper does not equal better. Don't forget, Vegas has to hit (I believe) 60% of this year's cap. You get some value with that with Smith, opposed to someone like Dustin Brown who is basically useless at this point, overpaid, and his contract term is ridiculous.

Extras, that's a really underwhelming list of goalies.

TBL will make a decision, and it'll be Bishop, so he'll be dealt at the deadline. Probably to DAL if the Stars have righted the ship by then. Pickard and Grubeur and Hutchinson are OK. Decent enough young NHL goaltenders. But some of those names are awful. Subban has played 60 minutes in the NHL and given up 6 goals. Coreau is a 25 year old AHL goalie. Brossoint is in the AHL.

Don't confuse "young and promising" with "good." Smith is an NHL starter and a Canadian Olympian. Coreau is a 25 year old AHL'er. If Vegas want to be good right away, they'll need a suitable goaltender. If he stays healthy, it's extremely unlikely Mike Smith is exposed to the draft this summer, and even less likely Vegas pass on him.
