Definitely Kris, like he's always been. Erik was a puck possession powerhouse at his peak and it really insulated his inconsistencies and deficiencies without the puck when he was at his peak. IMO, since he's no longer that horse he once was he's getting exposed more now.

- Led the entire NHL in Corsi For% in 2018-2019
- Not a puck possession powerhouse

Choose one.

Dam is letang that bad

He's not. HF's myth that Letang is bad defensively is one of the more mystifying ones out there. He's no Jaccob Slavin/Colton Parayko, but he's certainly not this bad defender that so many on here proclaim him to be. He matches up versus the other team's top players, and generally does a really good job of it. You don't accomplish that while being "bad" defensively.

Letang is better (by default) . . . the limbo bar is set pretty low for him in this poll.

Both have exaggerated defensive woes but more so for Letang. Karlsson's defensive issues may genuinely not be exaggerated this season but we only have a small sample. Letang is actually a very solid defenseman and I would be happy if the Hawks would call a guy of his caliber our #1.

Letang isn't bad defensively. His turnovers are pretty glaring which might accentuate this perception.

It's not mystifying; On HF, if you put up points, you suck at defense.

Letang is dumb as a brick (on ice) but he probably is better defensively than Karlsson.
