Just what the Habs need. One of the most injury prone players in the league. You think they thought Markov was injury prone. Tanger is a walking bandage. Do not want to give up anything for him.Do want him period.

Adding him means they would have almost $27 million per season tied up in letang, petry, alzner and weber, for the next three seasons (barring other moves). Petry’s contract would be the first to expire, in July 2021. That’s a lot of financial concentration on the blue line.

Friedman also said it would be very tricky to trade Letang in season, which I agree with. I would guess that the Penguins would only move Letang if they miss the playoffs or flame out in an embarrassing way in the playoffs, which means he wouldn't be moved until the offseason.

As a Leaf fan, I am praying that Bergevin will throw the rest of the Habs barren prospect pool away for an aging injury prone D in a last ditch attempt to make the playoffs, and save his job.

I would guess, however, that if the Pens trade him they will want players to help them now - I don't really see a fit there.

He’s good, and everyone knows it. What makes this tricky is his health history — which includes a stroke and concussions, among other injuries. Letang’s seen several doctors/specialists outside the Penguins’ prism, so you’d have to assume any interested opponent would want access to that information. Therefore, the big question is going to be: Is this too complex for an in-season deal?

he also adds that and says maybe even detroit may want in

Im sure thats what MTL wants, $15+ mil in cap space between a possible suddenly injury prone and aging Weber and Letang

Weber had a broken knee cap on a seemingly harmless check from Saad a couple years back and now he seems to have a bum foot that hasnt been getting better. Would be bad news it Webers legs start breaking down and then they put Letang right behind him who is a LTIR candidate everytime he clips his toenails

With the subban and sergachev trades and the price contract, habs gave up their future for the present. Letang would be another move that cements this I guess. If you believe the habs can win with this team then it would be a good move. I personally don't think Montreal is that good so I think letang would be a mistake for them.

You know...
See you all think he wont do it because he's a RD and we need a LD but let's take a look at Drouin a winger (our only position we really didn't need to fix other then goal tending) we literally we're willing to create a hole in the team for the kid and give up our biggest trade chip when we needed a center (which yes I know we still do lmao)... Honestly if we had any other GM in the league I'd say yea we probably wouldn't trade for Letang but uhh yea...

I assume when Bergevin hears a Quebecois player is available he get's giddy. I'm just praying if we make the trade it's not terrible value wise..

I guess it would be for something like Petry + Galchenyuk for Letang + Hagelin?

I think the habs need to fix the hole up the middle first. Phillip Danault is a solid #3 on most teams yet he is the habs best....

I can't figure out why Montreal would target him....they need a center, not another RHD.
