This is a very important number. But high or low he is an Oiler and I want him to succeed so once he is signed the team needs to make the best of things going forward.

My guess is $8M x 8 years.

there's just no way it's a trade imo. If we're trading Drai, it would only because of a high cap number, and in that case we would rather keep him for 1 year and trade him next summer.

Didn't somebody say they've had a deal worked out for a while, but Drai was back home in Cologne and they were just waiting until he returned so he could attend at the presser?

Might explain why there's been radio silence in the last couple of weeks.

Myself and others have speculated that a few times but I haven't seen any insider say anything about that. There was that photo of him celebrating something that was posted earlier this week though.

If thats true, good on the Oilers organization for keeping it under wraps. I am guessing if all the top insiders weren't on vacation it may have leaked already.

I dont like the optics (and cap implications) of an $8M contract so I am hoping for something between $7.0 -$8.0. If not then a bridge deal is fine by me.

Spector's not plugged in at all and Chia plays things close to the vest. Not that surprising that Spector would be out of the loop.

I'm surprised about the timing though. I figured we wouldn't hear anything until training camp was about to start.
