I dont know if he could be considered a prospect, as he is 27. Ive heard he is a good defensive forward, has size and grit, and has decent offense. Has anyone seen him play? If so, what are chances of him playing in edm in the next couple of years?

Edmonton's depth chart looks like this:

Hall - Gagner - Eberle
Smyth - Horcoff - Hemsky
Paajarvi - Belanger - Omark
Eager - XXXXXXXX - Jones

Nugent-Hopkins, Lander, Brule and Petrell will probably be competing for that center position. If RNH/Lander makes it it will push Belanger down to the 4th line, if Brule or Petrell make it they will be on the 4th line.

I don't really expect Petrell to get that spot, but he could be a 13th/14th forward for us.

He'll probably end up getting around 10-15 games this year with Edmonton and a chance to showcase himself in the NHL. If he does well he could earn a one-way contract in 2012-2013.

Most of the Finnish fans claim that he is very responsible defensively, one of the best hitters around (but not dirty) and has good character. NHL clubs are always looking for those characteristics when piecing together a bottom 6.

He was probably the best defensive forward in SM-liiga last year. Would have made the WC team for sure if he was healthy.

You'll love and hate him.. Good wheels and atleast in the FEL gets quite a lot of breakaways. Never really scores on them tho.. But you had Salmelainen for awhile, so thats nothing new.

Gives everything he has on the ice, so wins over lots of fans with that. Does get out of position while looking for hits so can be a defensive liability.
