Height is really overrated IMO. I'm not saying there's no advantage to it, but not to the extent that people usually look at blindly without considering weight/strength. Case in point: someone earlier today (too lazy to dig it up) claimed Clitsome was somewhat small - the guy's built like a tank.

Personally, I'd go for a team that's first and foremost fast in both footspeed and puck distribution, then secondly strive for one that's sufficiently not-soft - i.e. Chicago.

Now if we replaced Thorburn with O'Dell we'd have the youngest team in the league.

I thought we were young, but didn't know we'd end up 3rd youngest behind Columbus and Buffalo.

The Jets don't have a lot of older veterans to bring our average up. Jokinen is our oldest player at 34. Slater and Thorburn are 30. Everyone else is < 30.

And this year we've replaced 32 year old Antro with 20 year old Scheifele, 31 year old Hainsey with 19 year old Trouba and 32 year old Miettinen with 25 year old Frolik. Win-win-win!

Edit: Look at Detroit - 9 guys 30+, including 40 year old Alfie: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0000342014.html

Well, my numbers were a little off in July, but THIRD youngest is not bad!

Jets soon to be the youngest team in the league?

Looking at the most likely lineup for the Jets this year, we may end up being the youngest team in the league.

Making a few assumptions. since we don't know exactly what the roster will look like, but with Hainsey, Miettinen, Antropov and Wellwood out, and perhaps Trouba and Scheifele in, our average age would be about 25.6 yrs.

Lots of young talent!

The interesting stat here is that the tallest team in the league incudes Marty St. Louis on its roster.

For sure. I knew all those things and knew we would be young, I'm just surprised that we are 3rd youngest is all.
