If Keefe didn’t get the glove pass call and Calgary went on to win…..he’d be under severe pressure today. His body language is of a man who is desperate to get his team to win, play 60 min. I feel bad for him because as good a fill in Jones has been, he’s not a number one goalie. There always a potential for a bad rebound, lost angle, bad goal. That plays on the mindset of the team. Sammy has lost all confidence to take the net. Woll might not even be the answer. It’s a huge question mark.
Sure, if Calgary had not had a glove pass and tied the game, and Matthews scored a second hat trick, we would also be talking about something else. However, Calgary had a glove pass and the officials didn't see it, the Flames scored, the video team noticed it, and the game ended in the Leafs favor. But yeah, there are huge l question marks.

Phil the thrill anyone ?
This will be the reverse ultimate Leafy thing.
Phil comes back instead of Perry(went to Boston). People here get piss. Simmons trashes the Leafs non stop.
Phil and Perry both underwhelming in the regular season but Perry is a pest.
Playoffs comes around, Phil led his line with Domi and Willie and destroyed everyone and win the Conn Smythe. Then Phil is the first to hoist the Cup with a hotdog in his mouth. When Simmons asked him how he feels at post series conf. Phil just said, want a hotdog?

I think they have enough talent to put together a good team.

Perhaps they need better management to know what the combinations should be.

Cap Hit, after the fact, shouldn't determine role.
The Leafs' big problem is though they have scoring talent, they don't have any kind of offensive or defensive structure that a winning team needs to go along with said talent; Keefe's obsession with maintaining possession leads to them giving up bad scoring chances, and so they either need a really, really fast defense to get into position to break up some of the scoring chances they give up or they need a goalie that can make tons of tricky saves and steal games. I'd compare it to the '99 Leafs; they had some talented pieces, but the big differences between that team and the '98 team that missed the playoffs were a) Pat Quinn's defensive style and b) Curtis Joseph.

Praise Jebus that Bertuzzi contract is only a year. Unless he becomes a completely different (ie, actually useful) player in the playoffs, he's currently David Clarkson-level value for money.
The problem with Bertuzzi is like Nick Ritchie before him, Keefe has NO IDEA how to effectively use a player like this.

Much needed victory.

Tavares, Nylander and Bertuzzi need to wake up. They were our best line earlier in the season and they seem to have fallen off a cliff.
Tavares is toast, Bertuzzi is meh and Willy has signed his retirement deal

Watched 2.5 periods last night and finished tonight finally.

I'm way behind, but god damn AM did not feel like losing that game right?

There was one play in that game that made the difference and that was Gregor whiffing on the original dump in on the first Matthews goal. That goes in deep and there is no play after that.
