Pretty much agreed on all in someway or another minus Kapanen.

Guy is seeing top linemates for the first time basically on an early season and has done pretty good. Goals, pts, chances and plays.

He will get better
Oh certainly, I was just having some fun with the recency bias that some people have. Kapanen has been good. I think he continued to be good tonight, even though the rewards weren't there.

:laugh::laugh:

You might want to get some sleep. Loved the summary though, left all my favourite parts in. LOL "imaginary cycle".
Yeah, I reached 70 hours before my insomnia gave way. Had some interesting effects for a while there. Had to hold on to the sofa because I was sure the rotation of the earth would throw me off otherwise.

Zach Hyman is so good right now. He can out muscle all those physical defensemen in the corner, and has some pretty good hands/vision as we saw that Marner goal. I dont want to call him a first line power forward.. Because he might only have 2nd line or 3rd line offensive skill.. But certain games when he is on offensively as well, he looks like an elite power forward

In the long term they will have to develop a third line that can contribute offensively..
Fact is that, the empty net goal aside, neither the third or 4th line has scored a goal yet.
Kadri has hit 2 posts but other than that..nothing..
I am curious to see what they do with kapanen when Nylander comes back..

I would go with a third line of Johnsson,Kadri,Kapanen.......but I think that babcock will always default to brown....we shall see.

Good speed too unfortunately we only really see it when’s hes forechecking haha. When he has the puck he’s slow and no hands, not a real goal scorer either. I think that’s why Kapanen looks a lot better with Matthews more speed, more skill, better shooter. Hyman just moves it to Matthews Kapanen can lose the defence occasionally and then move it to Matthews.

Nylander must be concerned that if he does sign something cap friendly that he will be the one traded since he will be an attractive player on a great contract. He can't get a no trade clause since he's not allowed under the cba.

Makes no sense, even if he signs for $7M, that's low enough for most other teams to ask for him in a trade.
Patrick Marleau honestly sucks. He's not even shooting that great, he's become quite the crest sniper recently. Shooting and skating is about the only redeemable skills he's got left cause he can't pass the puck worth a ****.

This same thing happened with Iginla in his 2nd lastseason in Colorado. Scored 29 goals but he was just a PP specialist and awful 5 on 5, then he completely fell off in his last year where he ewas a 4th liner on a bad team. Still, Marleau is better right now than Iggy was but he should be on the 3rd + PP.

Yeah, I've never understood the idea that he's more likely to be traded with a good contract. It would be the opposite to me. An overpaid Willy is still a commodity on the market, but he's more problematic for us as a team navigating the cap. If he was on a great contract, he'd have even more added value to us though as we need to get as much impact per cap dollar as possible.

We have the perfect example on our team. Kadri's contract doesn't mean he's very likely to be traded now, it has made him borderline invaluable to us because it will be almost impossible for us to replace his impact on the ice without paying much more for it, and we don't have extra cap space like that.

i don't think that is accurate , IIRC Hanseys 1rst goal was on a split line set up by kappy, i think it was either 3rs/4th liners out there.
