Probably the 2nd most sought after free agent after Graf

Quillan was the MVP of the NCAA tournament last spring and has been a big part of a top Quinnipiac team again this year. He’s a strong skating center with good puck skills who can create offense with pace. His hockey sense is fine, good enough, to go with a strong compete level and ability to play both ways. At 6-0 without dynamic enough puck play, whether there’s enough to his game to be a real player is debatable, but he could be a very useful depth piece for an NHL organization.

Some players are programmed to play the game a certain way. Quillan is one of those players.

The six-foot, 201-pound, left-shot forward is used in all situations at Quinnipiac, and his relentless compete is evident on a nightly basis. He’s producing offence (nine goals, 12 assists), but it’s his three-zone detail and willingness to battle in the hard areas of the ice that stand out for me.

Quillan plays the game quick and he has excellent hand-eye coordination. When he sets up shop in the crease area, he has the ability to tip pucks from range, or corral rebounds and deposit pucks in the back of net.

Quillan has skated in 92 college games, when he is an incredible plus-53.

In a situation where he wouldn’t have to slot where Bozak did. Adding competition won’t be a bad thing, if it’s true.

I Don't remember how high profile a signing Trevor Moore was?

is his potential higher than Moore when we signed him?

It was actually Trevor Moore

We brought him from NCAA, developed him in the AHL and he played start of his career here

Had to move him as we needed a goalie back in 2019/2020

Moore is a top 6 player now for the Kings

His contract will start for the 2024-2025 season. He's on an entry level contract, they have his rights.

He's joining the Marlies on an ATO for this season, not burning a year off his contract.

Graf wants to stay in the North East. He's not Canadian like Quillan though so seems unlikely we're high on his list.

It would be cool to add both top free agent forwards though. It would make up for the lack of mid round picks.

On Seravallis podcast today he mentioned that sounded like he was going to an eastern conference team but never specified the leafs. Frank mentioned Graf has the higher end skill that could boom/bust but needed a more top 6 role to thrive where Quillen sounds like a surefire good bottom 6 player.

So that's very interesting.

I also saw Mayer play the other day and he's pretty solid. Big guy that plays physical but needs to work on his skating. I'd say he's got ELC potential. Could be sneaky and get him on an AHL contract for a year or two.
