Im not really terribly upset. I would have liked to see the forwards do bit more, but they did have their chances and luck wasnt on their side. Again, like last night, I generally dont judge vets in the pre-season.

For all the talk of a veteran lineup, our Dcore was anything but (Gardiner being the only competent NHL dman).

He would look even better on a line with Matthews and Nylander.

Gardiner and Johnsson were the other two standouts IMO.

What the **** are you talking about. JVR and Bozak looked really good tonight. Their line was pretty much the only line that generated offence tonight.

Marleau looked good tonight ... The vets played in second gear all night and still almost won.

AJ and Grundy look like keepers .. Borgman is going to push for a spot.

We play well until we make a mistake. It's usually a big mistake at the very worst time.
Then it's back to playing well, and 1 more big mistake. At certain points of each period we shoot ourselves in the foot at least once.

Marleau ++++ - Looked really, really good.
Kadri +++ - His line seemed to have quite the territorial advantage.
Komarov +++ - Solid effort. Like the line.
JVR +++ - Tested the goaltender every chance he had. Physical too.
Bozak + - Very frustrated, ineffective.
Marner +++ - Could have been less if it wasn't for good work on PP. Got manhandled.
Johnsson ++++ - Looked like an NHL player.
Smith ++ - Looked like he always does. Works hard, good awareness, can't do much.
Grundstrom ++++ - Looked like an NHL player.
Rychel + - Honestly quite terrible.
Greening +++ - Had a solid effort. Liked him when I noticed him.
Moore + - Looked like an AHL player. A skilled player that gets nowhere on his skill.

Gardiner ++++ - Looked as good as you'd expect.
Borgman +++ - About on par with Rosen. Not as good in the third.
Marincin ++ - Bad mistake, good on the PK. More mobile than last year, but otherwise largely the same.
LoVerde +++ - Looked like an AHL player, but a good and reliable one.
Valiev ++ - Underwhelming. One nice rush.
Holl ++ - Like Valiev, but worse and without the rush.

Andersen +++ - Decent effort. Got outgoalied.
Kaskisuo ++ - Hard to judge him. Barely got tested, but struggled then.
