As much as i don't like him on the Matthews line. I see his value as a player. He's like a dog for that puck  Sure he doesn't always finish his chances but the pressure he puts on the defense is worth it.

At this point, its looking like Leo is going to be the odd man out if we need to make a trade.. Hyman better be buying Matthews dinner in the future for getting him that caphit lol

2.25 is a great deal for a 3rd liner. Even a 4th liner+ PK and it's a good deal. No idea why folks are complaining. As a Martin/Komarov replacement, there's savings already when they leave.

The good thing is management is confident about these young guns on the other hand not a good news for veterans like JVR, Bozie, and Komi

Good, without him, Lou wouldn't be able to hold back the performance of Matthews. He won't come seeking McDavid money when his contract expires. Or so the conspiracy goes.

Brown got 8 more points than Hyman. I still think 3x6 is possible for Brown. While Hyman played with Matthews and Nylander, Brown still had Kadri, and Hyman played a bigger PK role for us.

So, i'd say they come close to even, with Brown getting more term, and thus, more money.

Yeah Hyman isn't a 4th liner as many here suggest.
Eaves makes 3.15 and up until last year (age 33), never scored more than 14 goals in a season.

Good, the 'veterans' were anchors for the large part of the season. Marner drove that line all year long, and Komarov was a black hole offensively until January or whenever it was.

I love Brown, but he is not getting 6 mil/year

Oh man there's gonna be a bunch of people going full tilt on this one.

Too bad it doesn't come with a presser saying they wanted to "keep Matthews' partner" in the fold.

I don't like Hyman with Matthews as much as the next person, but everyone needs to chill.

This contract is more than fine for a 3rd liner.

Pens went 7 years falling short for a repeat until they got the depth pieces to help the core.
Players like Hyman/Brown (play up and down the lineup, play in any situation, play their hearts out, do the dirty work that the Stars can't do for 82 games) are the support needed.
Your core gets you to the playoffs. Your depth wins you the Cup. IMO.

Agreed. It is also important to get these guys locked up at good to great cap hits. One down, Brown is next hopefully.

Komarov got a 4 x 2.9 contract after one NHL season of 9 points in 42 games. I think long-term Hyman will fill into Komarov's role nicely.
