Nylander had a garbage shift defensively late in the 3rd period and the coach is rewarding the guys who do what the coach asks.
If you put Nylander out, you reward poor defensive effort. And then the behaviour festers, instead of improving.
It's not like Babcock forgot Nylander was on the bench.
You should recognize that Babcock is considered the best in the world at what he does and think to yourself, "I wonder if maybe there's something I'm not seeing."
