RIP Andy Bathgate.

Interesting fact, he only played 70 game with the Leafs in the regular season.

Met him in the Thorold arena some time in the 70's when the NHL Oldtimers played.
He gave me his stick and I remember thinking "who was that guy?".

His career was mostly with the Rangers, played for the Biltmore's in Guelph on some powerful Jr teams, Eddie Shack also played there.

Used to see Andy at his driving range. He would be in the pro shop and rode the cart that picked up the driving range balls.
Even in his 70s, geez, was he good looking man. Baby blue eyes and grey hair, and fit.

Great player especially in his Ranger days when they had crappy teams. His career lasted into the World Hockey Association.

I had a book about Andy's journey to the NHL and super stardom as a Ranger when I was a kid... or rather I confiscated it from my older brother. I must have read that thing over a hundred times. The man seemed way larger than life to me.
