Thanks for the info on Herzog.

Josh Leivo is going to light this camp up and he's going to make a very strong push to be on the opening day roster with the Leafs. I know it sounds like a stretch, but he's got the skill and size that Frattin had and could find himself on a 3rd line.

He was my pick for surprise out of camp

Isn't it concerning that all of those players, with the exception of Broll, were former first round picks and you're projecting them to be third liners?

Considering that the odds of a prospect drafted 21st-25th playing 100+ games is about 72% (and 44% for 26th-30th) and on average are somewhere between a fringe NHLer and regular NHLer, it's not a major disappointment. Throw in Broll's 14% odds and if 3 of those 5 players become solid 3rd liners I'd say we did pretty well.

If any of these young players want a chance at making the Leafs this year then this tournament is a great opportunity to catch the eye of management with a good performance.

Has was talking about the Junior World Club Cup

If that's true, then I don't understand why he was talking about that... the previous comments that he was responding to were definitely about the Rookie Tournament (which wasn't held last year).

You are very confused. I'd suggest reading back from page 2, where it started.

The original comment was that Raine (invited to the prospects tournament) will be busy as he's in Russia right now for the Junior World Club Cup with the Sudbury Wolves --- the defending champions.

Then I said that was the tournament that Leivo dominated last year, when he was there with Sudbury to start the year.

Then Loosie expanded on my comment saying he got 11 points in 6 games in that tournament.

Then you chimmed in saying there was no Rookie Tournament last year.

Does that help?

This rookie team does have a lot of grit but it does have two good scorers in Brown and Mckegg so they do have some offense. Throw in what Rielly can bring and it really should be interesting.

That being said I expect this team to physically dominate whoever they play.

Won't be attending this years tournament unfortunately, so if anyone going can get a video that would be much appreciated.

Interested to see how some of these guys play. Keep expectations in check as the hockey will be pretty sloppy to start.

Macwiliam is 23, devane is 22, and everyone else is 21 or younger.

Nice change from when we used to send teams full of 24 and 25 yr olds.

23: macwilliam
22: devane
21: mckegg, granberg, ross, carrick, crescenzi, gibson
20: leivo, percy, biggs, sparks, broll, raine, yuen
19: rielly, finn, brown, herzog, rupert, rupert, bibeau
18: gauthier, verhaege, murphy

I don't think they ever sent players that old unless it was a UFA NCAA player. At least the ones the last few years. I believe it's traditionally been a tournament for player coming into first year pro seasons (or 2nd year pro guys who may not have outgrown the tournament).

Agreed..

Chis Gibson is a player of interest to me as I know this young man very well. I really think that we got a gift.

I also want to keep a close eye om Biggs as he is a player that can make the jump at some point this year.
