So we get to wait until the end of his scholarship to sign even if he played that extra year in the USHL right?

Exactly, we have his rights until he finishes all 4 seasons in the NCCA. If he decided after next season to go to development in the AHL we'll sign him to an ELC. He will lose all eligibility to go back to the NCAA at that point.

There also is the chance that DT plays all 4 years of his NCAA scholarship then as of August 15 (maybe 16?) of his final year he can sign as a UFA with any team

I'd look to sign him after this year, think he'll be ready for the pro game then.

If he continues to progress the same way he did last year, I agree. But you still have to let him play the season and see how much he develops before making that call.

I'd have no issue of he stayed another year with Duluth: he's a good fit with the team. He's one of my favourite under the radar prospects from the Leafs.

Good hockey iq and offensive skills. Just needs to work on his skating.
