Edvinson is the most talented D in the draft. His ceiling is way higher than Power. The team getting Edvinson, if he falls out of top five, is getting a steal.

Too soon to say. He is solid at D end... needs to get stronger. Some nifty moves, especially skating for a tall guy. But one would like to see more... especially some more goals scored

Regardless I think he will be a fine NHL pro. But is his ceiling Ekholm level or Hedman?

Nice straw man.

Not one person said he's the next Hedman. People compare playing styles since they're both tall and good at everything. Every single take I've seen said Hedman was better in pretty much every category while still comparing styles. Reason being, there really hasn't ever been a prospect like Power before to compare him to.

Huh? How is Power that unique a prospect? You can easily compare him to a guy like Erik Johnson.

Does anyone feel like this just feels very directed?

I feel like you could be this critical of any player in this draft, if you really wanted to. Just found this video to be a bit odd.
I think it's because there's very little criticism of power out there, that some see him as flawless, or rather that any flaws are insignificant.

The media seems to be drooling over power a little bit, and I think this is a response to that

Scouch is a little biased towards smaller, flashier players. I usually like his takes but this one was overly critical. Even if you don't like Power as #1 he should still be top 3. And in most of the past 5 drafts he would have been the #1 defenseman at draft time, save for 2017 and maybe 2018.

Does Power need to polish up his defensive play? Sure. But so does every defensive prospect coming into the league. Once Power becomes more comfortable I think we'll see him play more aggressively, and that's when things will get interesting.

They aren’t all THAT similar. And besides, that’s pretty unique. EJ was derailed with a significant injury very early in his development, which affected his overall development. We never saw his real potential.

What?

Edvinsson is a solid at D end

True! I stand corrected.

But you were saying Power needed to work on D so you’d rather pick...one of the other guys, a PP specialist, who also really needs to work on D.

Plenty of people prefer Hughes/Clarke for logical reasons, but your reason just doesn’t track.

As pure talent goes, in terms of skating, hands, shot, etc he's the most talented dman in the draft. Whether he puts it all together is why he's not in that #1 convo with power, who is polished to say the least for his age.

How does he compare to say Parayko? More upside?

Parayko is more of an elite shut down guy with big slapper from blue line. Owen power is probably not going to be that. In my opinion, he compares career/strength wise more to Erik Johnson after his golf cart injury.
