At close to “$15M for 3 years”. Isn’t that kinda a lot?
Still think it was a bad move to fire him. Glad his assistant is gone though
Maybe that’s it. Hynes as the follow up? Huge step back. Wish Lavi would have cut McCarthy and brought in someone who was a PP specialist. All the heat would have been gone if that was done in 2018. Hindsight...Mm, I think his time here was up. The team was still solid overall, especially 5-on-5 but I don't think they were going anywhere anymore after the successful years. Ultimately, the inability to fix the special teams in 1.5 years is what got him fired. People would feel differently about the firing if the guy coming WASN'T Hynes.
Lavi is replacing Todd Reirden so only two of the last three coaches came from Nashville. The Caps are the Minnesota Vikings of hockey. The Vikes always pick up old Packers players, like it is their retirement home.
The Caps last 2 HC came from Nashville. Isn't that weird? Trotz was here for 16 years, then Lavi for 5.5 years.

They seem to be a package so I would say so. I mean there is no evidence I don't think but alot of us have always thought the reason Lavi got canned was because he wouldn't change his assistants so once things went south Poile had no choice. So is McCarthy going with Lavy to DC?
